Clint Eastwood To Direct J. Edgar Hoover's Biopic
News is out that Clint Eastwood is currently in talks to direct a biopic on J. Edgar Hoover who was appointed director of the Bureau of Investigation in 1925, and then named head of FBI. The controversy surrounding J. Edgar Hoover involved utilizing his credibility and tenure at the FBI to "harass political activists and keeping secret files on leaders," Ryan Parsons of Canmag.com wrote. "The attention to the biopic has spiked of recent as Universal Pictures just released the project into turnaround."
Dustin Lance Black will be helming the script that he wrote about a year back, and a strong director will be needed to make this project a reality. Eastwood will be teaming up with Brian Gazer and Ron Howard's Imagine Entertainment to develop the picture, originally set up at Universal.
While currently not really set at a studio, the movie may most likely end up at Warner Bros studio and Malpaso's Robert Lorenz would serve as producer in addition to both Eastwood and Grazer.
Borys Kit of the Hollywoodreporter.com wrote, "There is a small connection between Hoover and the studio: Warner's hired Hoover to act as a consultant on its 1959 movie "The FBI Story" and on the ABC spinoff series "The F.B.I."
Stay tuned to get the latest news on the development of this biopic.
